Course Description: 

Our Front End Loader course is delivered by a trainer with industry experience, and covers the skills and knowledge required to conduct civil construction wheeled front end loader operations.

This course covers such topics as planning and preparing for wheeled Front End Loader operations, operating a Front End Loader, attaching, securing, lifting, carrying and placing materials, selecting, fitting and removing attachments, relocating the Front End Loader, carrying out machine operator maintenance, and conducting housekeeping activities. 


Course Requirements:

  • Participants must be 18 years or over to attend this course.
  • Participants must be competent in written and spoken English (Student are required to undertake a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy test prior to commencing the training)
  • Participants must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
  • Participants are recommended to hold their Construction Induction OHS (White) Card if operating Earthmoving machinery
  • Participants are required to wear sensible work clothes and steel capped boots, and dress according to the weather for their training.
  • Participants are required to bring appropriate sun safety protection  


Unique Student Identifier (USI): 

From 1 January 2015, if you are undertaking nationally recognised training delivered by a registered training organisation you will need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). This includes studying at TAFE or with a private training organisation, completing an apprenticeship or skill set, certificate or diploma course.  

If you do not have a USI, registered training providers by law, (Student Identifiers Act 2014 - Part 5, Section 53), cannot issue you with a Certificate, Statement of Attainment, or Transcript for your training.

Pre-course reading: 

All participants are required to study the Front End Loader Study Guide and complete the Front End Loader Review Questions prior the course. This puts everyone attending the course on the same base level of knowledge.




What to bring:  

Participants will be required to bring on the day:

  • Photo ID on the day
  • Their Construction Induction OHS (Red or White) Card, if they have one
  • Their Front End Loader Study Guide (this is required to be studied prior to the date of the course)
  • Their completed Front End Loader Review Questions (these are required to be completed prior to the date of the course)



Participants are required to complete a written assessment for this Front End Loader Course. The written assessment is a CLOSED BOOK assessment. All answers are required to be written in words and in English. They are not multiple choice.


They are also required to complete a Practical Assessment on a Wheeled Front End Loader.


On successful completion of these assessments, participants will be issued a Statement of Attainment for a nationally recognised unit of competency, and a photo ID Operator Qualification Card.


After completion of the initial course, it is recommended that participants be reassessed or provide proof of industry experience every 5 years so as to maintain competency.
